JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. -

A man is being held at the Washington County Detention Center after stealing a Johnson City Transit bus and driving it while intoxicated.

On Saturday, July 5th 2014, Officers of the Johnson City Police Department arrested 48 year-old Albert Charles Reitz, on charges of Burglary, Motor Vehicle Theft, Driving under the Influence, Possession of Burglary Tools and Driving without a License. 

Police tell News 5, that the arrest happened after a witness called 911. The witness said Reitz pulled into the parking lot of a CVS Pharmacy located at 840 W Market Street, and gave him the bus keys saying that he just took the bus from Fairview Avenue.

The Johnson City Transit Director was contacted and confirmed that the bus was not supposed to be in operation on this date.  The Director stated that the bus was parked in the Johnson City Transit parking lot located at 316 E. Millard St. 

Reitz was transported to the Washington County Detention Center where he is currently being held on a $42,000 bond with an arraignment scheduled for Monday, July 7th, 2014 at 1:30pm in the Washington County General Sessions Court.
