Johnson City man arrested in North Carolina, suspected of transporting drugs
A Johnson City man has been arrested in North Carolina accused of transporting liquid meth.
The North Carolina State Highway Patrol spokesman says 29-year-old Michael Edwards, of Johnson City, was stopped Wednesday morning on Interstate 40 for a seatbelt violation.
The arresting trooper says five jars, of what he believed to be, liquid meth was found in the vehicle. Those jars have been sent to the State Bureau of Investigation for testing. Troopers also say they found materials used to make meth in Edwards' car.
Officers say they ran a background check on Edwards and learned he was wanted in Tennessee on charges of making meth.
Edwards is now facing several charges, including possession of drug paraphernalia and traffic violations. North Carolina troopers say additional charges are possible, pending the outcome of the state tests.
