BRISTOL, Va. -

Downtown Bristol, Virginia has plans to expand and looking to become the craft brew hub of the region.

Ken Monyak has been brewing beer for the past three years and announced Friday that the iconic bus station on 41 Piedmont Avenue will now be home to his new business, Bristol Brewery.

The small-scale brew pub will house a 7.5 barrel system and is expected to bring about seven to ten part and full time jobs to the city.

Monyak says in addition to his new brewery, he's excited about another brewery which has opened just down the road. He believes downtown Bristol will soon have an Asheville like feel to it and will bring a lot of foot traffic downtown.

People will be able to go shopping, go to restaurants and of course drink craft beer.

Monyak tells News 5 he's lucky to have this kind of opportunity.

"We were very fortunate that we won the Believe in Bristol entrepreneurs' contest, and through that contest the grant money that we got we were able to use that money to put towards this building," says Monyak.

Monyak tells News 5 the brewery plans opening its doors on November 1st.
