A Johnson City mother and her son got the keys to their new Holston Habitat for Humanity home on Saturday, and the type of home was a first for the organization.
It's the first all-brick house ever constructed by the nonprofit.
General Shale partnered on the build as part of a pilot program exploring a new Endurance Brick.
Lisa Story, the new homeowner, told News 5 it's taken her a long time to get to the point of moving in to a new home.
"I moved in with my brother and his family, and you know life takes its toll on everybody every now and then, but to get from his bedroom to having my own home was a great challenge," she says.
Builders called the three bedroom, one and a half bathroom home "tornado-proof."
