DICKENSON COUNTY, Va. -

A high school football player from Galax, Virginia was injured in Saturday's game against Haysi and flown to a hospital.

In the 4th quarter of Saturday’s playoff game Sophomore Cross Gonzales was injured on a play. A Virginia State Police helicopter landed on the 50-yard line and took Gonzales to the Bristol Regional Medical Center.

A hospital spokesperson tells us Gonzales was treated and released.

The game was delayed about an hour, but Haysi went on to win 40-25.
