HAWKINS COUNTY, Tenn. -

The Hawkins County School Board is getting closer to selecting the new director of schools.

Monday evening they'll meet with one of the finalist to negotiate a salary.

Hawkins County School Board Member Holly Helton tells us the finalist is Dixie Bowen who is currently the supervisor of students for the Bristol, Tennessee School System.

Helton says Bowen received the most votes from the school board that's why she is the candidate of focus.

School board member Chris Christian tells us he's looking for someone with experience. "[We need someone who] has knowledge of doing a budget, academics to increase test scores for our students, and to create unity in our county," he said.

We're told the other finalist was Jim Ailshie, who is currently principal at Rogersville Middle School.
