Many kids in the Hawkins County School District start classes Monday, and Sunday afternoon families had the chance to participate in the 2nd Annual Hawkins County School Prayer Walk.
It was a chance for families, like the Dixons, to stand outside their respective schools and pray for the upcoming school year. Nathinel goes to Church Hill Intermediate School and Eli will begin 8th grade at Church Hill Middle School. Families could pick up a piece of paper on the steps of the school with suggested prayers and petitions.
Expecting God's Help is the organization that started this event last year. Their focus is aimed at the well-being of all students and teachers throughout the school year, and the Dixon family could not agree more.
"The most important thing that we can do is to lead our children into our schools with God at their back and God in the front of them," says mom Michelle Dixon.
"Pray over the teachers and children that are learning and helping them and to pray for a safe school year," adds Nathinel.
The Prayer Walk took place at every school in Hawkins County from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday.
