In less than 12 days Hawkins County has to submit a budget to the state, and the county's budget committee hasn't even voted on it yet.
Monday evening the Hawkins County school board asked to take another look at their budget due to an issue with salaries.
Thursday night is when the School Board plans to review their budget, which is putting the entire county's budget passage a stand still. "Time is of the essence because we know we are working within a time frame, but we do have to let them get the budget back for tomorrow night they'll pass it on to us. We'll get the documentation on Friday get that out to our commission and we'll be ready to vote and pass the budget on Thursday at 9 a.m.," said Gary Hicks, the county budget chairman.
The school board is the largest part of the county's budget.
The budget has to be sent to Nashville by October 7.
