A major grant is heading to a town in southwest Virginia in hopes it will help revitalize its downtown area.
Glade Spring officials announced a $417,000 grant from the Virginia Department of Housing and Community Development is heading to the town.
We're told the grant includes a revolving loan fund for business owners to help them expand their enterprises while employing additional workers. Another portion of the grant is devoted to blight removal.
Mayor Lee Coburn says a strong collaboration among government officials, citizens, volunteers and business owners made the grant possible.
