UPDATE 9:43 p.m.: Girls Inc. released the following statement:

"Monday, July 28, 2014 one of our vans was involved in an accident in Bristol, Tenn. as the group headed to Tennessee High to swim. All 13 girls on board are ok. The 61-year-old driver of the van, a longtime employee of Girls Inc. of Bristol, is being checked out by medical professionals. She is a 16-year veteran of Girls Inc. and is like family to us. Neither we nor the driver were aware of a suspended license due to an insurance violation. The driver has been suspended from work at Girls Inc. of Bristol until the investigation is complete. The entire staff at Girls Inc. of Bristol is cooperating with police as they investigate this accident."

Two people were taken to the hospital today after a van registered to Girls Inc. crashed into an animal hospital in Bristol, Tennessee.

Officers say Marzetta Burks was driving a passenger van registered to Girls Inc. when she ran a stop sign and hit another car.

Investigators say after that, the van continued and hit Ferguson's Animal Hospital. We're told it was carrying kids, whose ages range from eight to 13.

Burks is charged with a state misdemeanor citation for driving suspended, more charges are pending.
