Before you stuff your belly full of turkey Thursday evening, the folks with Johnson City's Up and at Em' want you to come out for a morning run.
It’s all part of the city's eighth annual Turkey Trot 5K. More than 5,000 men, women, kids and four-legged friends are expect to trek down Legion Street and through the Tree Streets starting at 8:30 in the morning.
Despite the temperatures dipping into the upper teens, Johnson City city councilwoman and Turkey Trot coordinator Jenny Brock tells us the run will go as planned. "Everything is still a go. What I’m advising people to do is to layer up make sure you keep your hands and your head are warm. We think the precipitation is suppose to stop later this afternoon. It should be dry and sunny, but it will be cold," said Brock.
They are trying to beat a Guinness World Record for "most participants in a multi-venue race". They will need more than 116,086 runners to break the record.
