The April 15 tax deadline is approaching; if you still need to file taxes, you can get some free help.
The AARP Foundation is helping people get their federal income taxes filed. Free clinics are being held at area libraries.
On Tuesday we caught up with some volunteers working at the Blountville Library.
We're told anyone can come get some help every Tuesday now through tax day. "It's open to everybody. We don't discriminate at all. We have to have a photo ID, and a Social Security card. If you don't have your Social Security statement, and we just have to make sure that we're doing everything possible to guarantee that you are who you say you are," explains volunteer Patsy Burnette.
The Blountville Library volunteers are available Tuesdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sign up begin when the library opens.
The Bristol Public library also offers free tax help on Tuesdays from 5 to 7 p.m., with sign-ups starting at 3 p.m., and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. with sign-ups starting at 9 a.m.
