It seems like Summer has come and gone all to quickly this year, and it's time for families in Bristol to start thinking about getting ready for school.
Today, Anderson Park in Bristol, Tennessee hosted hundreds of kids and their parents for the 10th annual Sunshine Kids Fest.
The first 400 kids, ages Kindergarten to 5th grade, who registered got a free backpack among other free incentives.
All the food, face painting and activities were free. It's a way for local churches to give back to under-priviledged families in the area.
Volunteers from Grace Point Church say they do this as a way to spread the love of Christ.
Darrell Bewley, Pastor of Grace Point Church, said, "It's a good outreach for kids to let them know that people care about them, and they can have the same opportunity that other kids have. They can go to school and start school with a good feeling that they have backpacks and they have school supplies like other children have."
Organizers tell us last year the total attendance was 1,700 people, and they think there were more this afternoon.
