Fort Lee to hold scaled-back July 4 event
Fort Lee says its Independence Day celebration will be scaled back this year.
Garrison commander Col. Rodney D. Edge says Fort Lee had to identify ways to keep costs to a minimum for the July 4 event.
The Fourth at the Fort event at Williams Stadium in Petersburg will include music by the 392nd Army Band followed by a fireworks display.
Admission is free and open to the public.
Some attractions such as a children's play area won't be offered this year, but food and beverage vendors will be available.
