Fewer people finding jobs in Virginia
Unemployment rose in Virginia last month for the second month in a row.
According to the Virginia Employment Commission, the jobless rate was 5.5 percent in June. That's up from 5.3 percent in May, and down from six percent a year ago.
The Commonwealth's unemployment rate has been trending down since it peaked at 7.4 percent from December 2009 until March 2010.
The Labor Department says the national unemployment rate was unchanged at 7.6 percent in June. Despite that, 195,000 jobs were added.
Tennessee has not yet released its unemployment rate.
