FDA cracking down on fake online pharmacies
The FDA is cracking down on online pharmacies, taking more than $41 million in illegal medicines and shutting down more than 1,600 websites. It's all part of the battle against counterfeit drugs.
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration says it used federal court warrants to take the website domain names and post messages to warn customers.
The FDA says fraudulent sites offer very steep price discounts or they may not require a prescription to fill an order. They also may contact consumers through spam e-mails.
