BRISTOL, Va. -

Over 100 families will have a Christmas dinner thanks to a local church.

The annual meal was served from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Emmanuel Episcopal Church in Bristol, Virginia.

Late parishioner and Bristol businessman Jack Trayer started this tradition in 1981, because the recession left so many families in need.

Members of the church were preparing turkey, vegetables, cranberries, and other fixings Wednesday afternoon.

Donations pay for all the meals.
