A local school system is getting some high regards from the state of Tennessee.
We've learned Elizabethton City Schools was one of five school systems from across the state to be named an 'exemplary school district'.
Director of Schools Ed Alexander told News 5 they received the accolade after making 10 of its 11 measurable objectives and met seven out of eight gap closures on achievement.
Alexander said it might be a unique staffing method that sets Elizabethton schools apart. "We have [interventional] coaches that work with math and reading that have really touched the areas of these kids who are on the cusp of going to an upper level of achievement," said Alexander
Alexander said they will be working to meet all of their goals for the next school year.
