EMORY, Va. -

Emory & Henry College is joining forces with the Rensselaerville Institute in New York, to improve quality of life in Southwest Virginia.

Tal Stanley, a professor at the college, is coordinating efforts to get sewer and water projects done in Buchanan, Wise, Dickenson, and Lee counties.

Students use the "Sparkplugs for Renewal Program" to help get money and labor to expand or establish water systems to meet the needs of local communities.

The college tells us the partnership works well because there is a common goal to help people and communities in need.
