A man is facing charges after an accident on Interstate 81 in Smyth County, Virginia Saturday morning.
Virginia State Police tell News 5 the accident happened just before 10:30 in the morning near Atkins.
VSP said the driver, Jacob Henley, was driving north towards Wytheville when he hit a tractor-trailer, crossed the median and hit the end of a guardrail on the southern side of the interstate.
Responders from the Atkins Volunteer Fire Department tell us the guardrail went through the radiator and dashboard, ripped off the driver's headrest, and traveled all the way through the back window.
Henley was able to walk away with minor injuries, but VSP troopers say they charged Henley with reckless driving, driving on a revoked license, not wearing a seat belt, having expired tags, and not having proof of insurance.
