The next performance for the Dobyns-Bennett High School Band after Monday night's holiday concert is on New Year's Day at the Pasadena Tournament of Roses Parade.

"We leave the 28th of December; we're flying two jumbo jets charted out of the Tri-Cities,” Lafe Cook, band director.

Cook tells News 5 about 360 students along with hundreds of parents will make the make the more than 2,200 mile journey to Los Angeles.

This will be the band’s third performance in the parade and it is sure to be different that all the rest.

Adam Lively, a DB alumus, will also be a part of the parade.

"Adam was a senior at ETSU, he and several of his friends were headed back to school and the young man that was driving swerved to miss an animal and the vehicle they were in rolled and Adam hit his head,” said Dave Lively, Adam’s father.

A few days later Adam died, but at his request many of Adam’s organs have given life to others.

And on January 1st a floragraph of Adam will be part of the Donate Life float in the parade.
