Washington County, Virginia Sheriff Fred Newman says deputies are trying to find a man wanted in Wise County for failure to appear.
Investigators say Jason Simmons was the passenger in a car when deputies stopped the driver off Virginia Route 91 and Crescent Drive around 9 o'clock Wednesday night. They say Simmons shoved a deputy down an embankment and took off.
Sheriff Newman says Simmons is a Washington county resident.
Right now they are working on warrants to catch Simmons at his home.
When they catch him Newman told News 5 he'll be charged with assaulting a police officer, resisting arrest and possession of narcotics because they found a crack pipe under his seat in the car.
