The deadline to sign up for insurance through the Affordable Care Act has been extended a day due to heavy traffic on healthcare.gov giving people a little extra time to sign-up that's if you want coverage to start on January 1.
Joyce Wolfe is one of many people with the Southwest Virginia Community Health Systems helping people sign up for insurance. She tells us Monday it's been about a 45 minute to an hour wait using the 800 number to set up any plans.
Wolfe says the website has been even more congested, and if you plan to sign up you may be on hold for a while. "I would call the 800 number instead of trying to do it yourself online. Call the 800 number and let them walk you through it," she said.
Wolfe says if you need help signing up for insurance through the Affordable Care Act, you can call or go to any of the Southwest Virginia Community Health Systems. To find a location near you or for a contact number click here.
You have until March 31 to sign up for the insurance to avoid penalty.
