Damascus rainfall hurts tourism
One Southwest Virginia town is watching their tourism dollars shrink because of the rainy weather.
This is typically peak season for bike rental shops along the Creeper Trail in Damascus, Virginia.
Owner of the Bike Station Rental and Shuttle Steve Mann tells us this is the slowest season he's seen in several years, and that it's not just bike shops that are hurting. "It's not just the bike rental and shuttle businesses in our town. Our restaurants, our convenience stores, we all look for that tourist dollar. Our little campgrounds here in town. We're all hurting this year compared to years in the past," says Mann.
Mann tells us he is hoping for better weather in hopes of bringing the bikers back to town.
