Cumberland Street in Bristol transformed into a giant slip-and-slide Saturday afternoon for the Cumberplunge.
Quaker Steak and Lube sponsored two 500-foot plastic water slides that snaked down the street, and a lucky 400 people got the "golden ticket" to slide for free.
Sliders were encouraged to wear "ridiculous" costumes. News 5 talked to a mermaid and a man dressed in a suit about their get-up. "I mean I really didn't dress up. This is just my normal awesomeness right here. Like I was just bringing the style," Jason Dowd said. The mermaid, Nicole Hughes, told us, "The water slide is nothing without a mermaid, so I had to come represent."
Everyone that slid had to apply for a spot. 300 participants were selected randomly, and the last 100 were based on creativity and crowd appeal.
