The summer heat can be hard to handle, but there is help to keep cool.
The Virginia Department of Social Services is now accepting applications for the Energy Assistance Program.
The applications will be accepted through August 15 and can be submitted at the Department of Social Services.
Assistance is available to households with a child younger than six, a person with a disability or an adult older than 60. To qualify for assistance in a one-person household, the maximum monthly income is $1,245. For a household of four, the maximum income is $2,552.
