BRISTOL, Va. -

Changes are coming to Bristol, Virginia's busiest interstate exit, but drivers will have to battle construction for more than a year.

Virginia Department of Transportation spokeswoman Michelle Earl says construction crews will soon begin work on the exit 7 interchange in an effort to reduce congestion and ease traffic flow. Earl says that area sees more than 18,000 vehicles a day. The changes will add more turn lanes and widen existing roads. Construction is slated to begin March 17th and will cost $3.4 million dollars. It should wrap up in the summer of 2015.
