CHILHOWIE, Va. -

     The extreme cold is being blamed for water damage inside a local elementary school Wednesday.

     Smyth County School Superintendent Michael Robinson told News 5, two pipes burst in the ceiling at Chilhowie Elementary School overnight.
     Crews are currently working to clean up the water using fans and making repairs.
     The water damage was in the 1st and  2nd grade wing and a middle part of the building.
     Several custodians from other schools in the county came over to help.
