Citizens meet new city manager
Citizens around Bristol, Tennessee were shaking hands with their new city manager Tuesday evening.
Bristol City Council voted on January 21 to extend the contract of Interim City Manager Bill Sorah. Sorah took over the full-time position immediately.
Tuesday night, citizens and members of various city and county governments were on hand for a meet and greet with Sorah.
Sorah said deliveries and services were some of the largest challenges the city faces today.
"We derive the largest portion of our revenue from property tax or local option sales tax. From a competitive standpoint, you want to keep that property tax as low as possible.
At the same time, you're challenged daily with providing a high level municipal service at the most cost-effective fashion," said Sorah.
According to Sorah, the new Pinnacle Shopping Center is still slated to open this year. He anticipates the development will bring jobs and generate revenue in Bristol.
