Cheerleader tries to trip player after score
Oklahoma State to discipline cheerleader
An Oklahoma State cheerleader is in trouble after he extended his foot toward an Oklahoma player after he just scored a game-winning touchdown.
According to The Oklahoman, Jarid Atkinson stuck his foot out in what looks like an attempt at trying to trip Oklahoma’s Eric Striker as he celebrated the Sooners’ 33-24 win. Video of the incident clearly shows Atkinson sticking his foot out, but Atkinson told OSU deputy athletic director Dave Martin that he was playfully sticking out his foot and not actually trying to trip Striker.
Deputy athletic director Dave Martin says the university does not condone physical or verbal abuse toward players or fans. In a statement to The Oklahoman, Martin said the cheerleader will see "consequences for his poor judgment and actions."
