The Hawkins County clerk of courts is speaking out after a judge dismissed a contempt charge against her.
Clerk Sarah Davis was charged with contempt of court back in March after a judge asked Davis to have a cost collections clerk come to his courtroom. According to court documents, she told the judge "no."
Davis says she already had a clerk in Judge Ross's courtroom that day.
A judge dismissed the case on the prosecutor's request, but had some of the DA's comments stricken from the record.
Davis tells News 5 that since she has been cleared of the charge, she is finally free to say that she should have never been arrested. She says she takes a tremendous amount of pride in her job and the responsibilities as the clerk of courts.
