A special ceremony was held in Kingsport for the naming of a bridge in honor of a fallen soldier who gave his life in Vietnam.
Specialist Fourth Class Hann was the son of the late Sam and Audrey Hann and spent most of his life in Church Hill and Kingsport, Tennessee.
David attended Dobyns-Bennett High School and volunteered for service in the Army. Hann served in the Army's 23rd artillery group, and was killed in action in 1971.
The bridge located at Gibson Mill Road behind Holston Valley Medical Center is now named the Specialist Fourth Class David Lee Hann Memorial Bridge.
The ceremony began at 10 a.m. and included a Missing Man Table and Honors ceremony.
His brother, Paul Hann was in attendance for the ceremony. He said that he is blessed to have had David as a brother.
"It is a huge honor for him," said Hann referring to the bridge dedication. "It was well deserved."
Hann was the last Kingsport resident to give his life in service during the Vietnam War.
