It's time once again for the annual Niswonger Children’s Hospital Golf Classic, and if you're there you may see some familiar faces.
The event actually kicks off with a performance by Darius Rucker at the Niswonger Performing Arts Center in Greeneville on June 23.
Then on June 24 at the Virginian golf club, golfers will tee off alongside some sports legends like Dan Marino, Emmitt Smith, and Jason Witten, plus some local favorites like Phillip Fulmer and Frank Beamer, among others.
They hope to raise funds to help in the care of our region's children who are in need of serious medical care. Steven Godbold, CEO of Niswonger Children’s Hospital, says, “Some of these kids have up to five syringe pumps that are bringing in much-needed medications to these kids, and they cost about $5,000 apiece. Right now we need to replace pretty much our whole fleet, roughly around a hundred [vehicles]."
We're told the syringes mentioned are primarily used to deliver very precise dosages for the youngest and smallest patients.
