Capco Machinery Systems is planning a $4.2 million expansion of its plant in Botetourt County.
Capco says the expansion will double the plant's size and production capacity.
Media outlets report that the company broke ground for the project on Friday. The expansion is expected to be completed in August 2014.
Capco CEO Edward West says he plans to hire 30 new employees initially and another 30 in the future.
The company manufactures roll grinders that are used in the steel, aluminum and paper industries.
West says 95 percent of the company's product is exported overseas. But he says he wants to keep jobs in Botetourt County.
Botetourt County offered Capco a $99,000 performance grant over four years to help with the project.
