A California man who hauled hundreds of pounds of marijuana to Virginia is due in federal court for sentencing.

Shad William Dixon of Colton, Calif., faces a maximum of 20 years in prison when he is sentenced Tuesday in Charlottesville. He pleaded guilty in May to conspiracy to distribute marijuana.

According to court records, Dixon was paid thousands of dollars to transport marijuana in his recreational vehicle from California to Charlottesville. He was making his fourth such trip last October when he was busted during a traffic stop in Oklahoma. Police there found 140 pounds of marijuana in the RV.

Two co-defendants also pleaded guilty to marijuana-related charges. Christopher Bishop was sentenced to three years and one month. David Frank Patterson will be sentenced Sept. 27.
