KINGSPORT, Tenn. -

There's some unconventional thank-you notes popping up at businesses across Kingsport.

We've learned dozens of businesses and organizations are taking part in a 'Thanks-a-Billion' campaign to offer community gratitude for Eastman Chemical Company's 'Project Inspire'. The Kingsport Chamber of Commerce is helping to spearhead the effort.

Many of these businesses are posting "Thanks a Billion, Eastman" on their marquees.

The project expands Eastman headquarters in Kingsport with a $1.6-billion investment over seven years and will create about 300 new jobs.

We're told those 300 jobs will stimulate the local economy; starting with small businesses. "All of [the new employees] are going to be shopping in our stores, eating in our restaurants, they're going to be bringing their families with them, buying homes, buying cars, buying insurance, etc., etc. So that's significant for a community of our size," said Miles Burdine, the president and CEO of the Kingsport Chamber of Commerce.

We've learned these 'thank you's' will keep adding up. Later this week, you'll find some electronic billboards boasting that same message.
