Former bus driver's case delayed again
Trial date set for March 2013
The case against a former Washington County, Tennessee school bus driver won't be settled until next year and may end up going to trial.
A trial date for Brenda Gray is now set for March 20 and 21, 2014.
She faces 39 counts of reckless aggravated assault after a school bus crash involving David Crockett High School students in September of 2012.
Gray was in court again Tuesday morning for a plea deadline hearing but the case hit another delay.
Her attorney, Cliff Corker, who picked up the case after her first lawyer died, asked the court for more time to review raw data on how fast the bus was going when it crashed. "We want to resolve the case for the benefit of the defendant and the public. Obviously, it's a tragic case with young children involved and anytime you have that you don't want to put anyone through that if you don't have to through a trial," said Corker.
Corker is questioning the speed that was documented in the highway patrol's reconstruction report.
The case could still be settled before trial, she has another plea deadline hearing on March 7.
