Tommy and Augustine Davenport recently built their Bristol home in hopes of making many good memories in their retirement.
"It's a wonderful place to be. It's calming," said Augustine Davenport.
But that sense of stillness was interrupted December 20. "I guess we were gone approximately three hours. When we came back all of the lights were on. Tom came through the door and said, 'There's something wrong,'" said Augustine.
The Davenports tell News 5 someone broke through their door and ransacked their home, taking a flat screen television, a pistol, and some of their medicines.
They tell us that's when they called 911. "While the detectives were here, I got on the computer. We've got security cameras around the house," Augustine said.
The surveillance camera shows a man entering in the Knob Park Road home just before 5 p.m. on December 20 while the Davenports were away.
The Sullivan County Sheriff's Office believes the suspect could be connected to two other burglaries at the nearby Observation Knob Park in November.
"I'll give you anything I got, but don't come in and steal it," said Tommy Davenport.
The Davenports wish this was a memory they could soon forget so they can get back to a peaceful retirement. "Since this break-in, it's not been so calming, I come through the door now and I feel like we've been violated," said Augustine Davenport.
If you've seen the suspect or noticed someone driving a black car, thought to be a Honda, in the area around the time of the burglary, you are urged to call the Sullivan County Sheriff's Office at (423) 279-6042.
