BRISTOL, Tenn. -

The idea of allowing movie theaters in Bristol, Tennessee to sell beer is generating a lot debate.

The city council is considering allowing beer to be sold and consumed at movie theaters within the city limits. The decision is centered around the opening of a new theater within the pinnacle development off Exit 74.

The ordinance proposal is now heading to a work session before it is voted on again.

Meanwhile, the city council is also putting the finishing touches on a new ordinance dealing with tethering dogs.

Council members approved most of the draft proposal. They removed a section dealing with tethering a dog between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m.

They are still working on specifics for adequate food, water, shade, and shelter. It also requires animals being hauled in the bed of a truck be secured.

The next reading will be in September.
