A Bristol, Tennessee man gets an unexpected honor while on vacation with his family.
David Matney was the nine millionth visitor to Patriot's Point Naval and Maritime Museum in Charleston, South Carolina Thursday. Matney was recognized during a special ceremony.
"This is an exciting day for all of us at Patriots Point," said Patriots Point Executive Director Mac Burdette in a press release. "We take as much pride in welcoming visitors today as we did the day we opened - on January 3, 1976."
Matney also received a prize package valued at nearly $2,500. It includes a private three-course dinner, a Charleston Harbor tour, a carriage tour and a two-night stay at a local hotel. He also received a voucher for a Carnival Cruise, a helicopter ride, merchandise from the Patriots Point Ship's Store gift shop, and a one year Membership for free future visits to Patriots Point.
