BRISTOL, Va. -

Suicide is the tenth leading cause of death in the U.S. and the third leading cause of death for young people between the ages of 15 and 24.

And, in Southwest Virginia that number is almost double. That's why this week is being recognized in Bristol, Virginia as suicide prevention week.

On Monday, Bristol, Virginia mayor, Guy Odom, will tour the Crisis Center and meet the suicide prevention team, which provides education and training throughout the region.

The Crisis Center also offers a 24/7 hotline for suicide prevention and sexual assault cases.
