Two local parks benefit from Keep Bristol Beautiful's Great American Cleanup.  In a press release, the organization says hundreds of people came out on Saturday morning in April for the community cleanup. They say almost 150 people worked on cleaning up Steele Creek and Sugar Hollow Parks.

The organization says during the cleanup gathered approximately 30,000 pounds of litter and electronic waste was retrieved. The clothing drive held during the cleanup brought in 1666 pounds of clothing and donations.

The business that brought in the most donations during the clothing drive was Scholle Packaging of Chilhowie, Virginia with 655 pounds.  The individual who brought in the most was Jerry Hodge with 630 pounds. Money raised by the organizations goes back into the local community.  Donations benefited the Bristol Salvation Army and the Haven of Rest.

The Great American Cleanup is a nationwide event held annually from March 1 - May 31 to clean up and spruce up our communities.
