BRISTOL, Va. - Construction is underway at the future home of The Falls in Bristol, Virginia, where Cabela's and other major retailers will be located.
All that work can cause a lot of noise. "We hear some construction noise and we'll smell like timber burning sometimes," Angie Edmondson said.
The Edmonson family lives just behind where the new development will be located and they couldn't be more excited for the new stores. "We're excited about the development. Restaurants, shopping, anything that will bring more consumers into the area," Angie said.
The blasting that started this week means it's one step closer to being complete. "I'm sure some people are probably mad about [the construction], but we just think the new commercialization will really help our house and the whole city of Bristol," Taylor Edmondson tells News 5.
According to The Falls website, the development will bring in around two million visitors a year. That has this family wishing for one thing. "We hope to get a red light because with the traffic at Sullins [Academy] during the school year, at 8:00 a.m. and at 3:00 p.m. it's very difficult to get out," Angie said.
We've learned when the project is complete it will house 1.47 million square feet of retail space and bring in more than 5 hundred million dollars in annual sales.
The Falls is set to open next year. For more information you can visit their website: http://thefallsbristolvirginia.com/
