Authorities in Southwest Virginia are looking for the person they say is responsible for setting a couple of wildfires that charred hundreds of acres over the weekend.

Virginia Department of Forestry spokesman Bill Miller says more than 720 acres of forestry land have burned since Friday.

A fire in the Fairview community of Scott County and one in the Blackwater section of Lee County each burned more than 200 acres.

Investigators believe both were intentionally set.

Another fire in Buchanan County burned 277 acres and is still under investigation.

Anyone with information about any possible suspects should contact Scott County sheriff's office at (276) 386-7679 or the Lee County sheriff's office at (276) 346-7753.
