ABINGDON, Va. -

Saturday the Abingdon Main Street program hosted the "Old Abingdon Christmas Open House."

We’re told more than 30 locally owned business participated in the open house.

Many of the stores offered discounts and door-prizes to customers.

Abingdon Main Street Executive Director Susan Howard tells News 5 the weekend’s event is another holiday boost to business.

“Black Friday and Small Business Saturday were really good for them, so we hope that today will be also. It's a chance for locals and tourists to support our independently owned-businesses, as a Main Street community that's really important to us,” said Howard.

Carolers were out as well serenading those in Abingdon.

There was even a chance for a history lesson through the Washington County Historical Society cabin tour program.
