Woman rescued from Appalachian Trail

UNICOI COUNTY, Tenn. -

Unicoi County, Tennessee officers rescued a woman lost on the Appalachian Trail.

J. Ardenia Gaines was hiking the trail Wednesday when she found herself wet, covered with snow and unable to walk.

She said she only had her cell phone and that's how she contacted her family, who then called the Unicoi County Sheriff's Office.

We're told it took the department's two best trackers three hours to find her.

Gaines said she was stranded somewhere near Cherry Maple Gap due to a miscalculation.
