WILLIAMSBURG, Va. -

Virginia State Police say a small plane has crashed in the Williamsburg area.

James City County District Fire Chief Bob Ryalls tells media outlets that one person was killed in Friday's crash. State police spokeswoman Corinne Geller was unable to immediately confirm that report or provide any other details to The Associated Press. She said troopers are on the scene.

Ryalls said the Cessna crashed in a subdivision near the Williamsburg-Jamestown Airport.
