JONESBOROUGH, Tenn. -

A 12-year-old girl was hit Monday morning while trying to get on her school bus.

The accident happened on Highway 81 around 6:00 a.m. Monday morning.

The Tennessee Highway Patrol tells us the young girl got out of a car and ran across the street.

Authorities tell us that is when a vehicle driven by Ginger Roberts of Erwin, Tennessee struck the girl.

The Tennessee Highway Patrol tells us the investigation is ongoing..
