The Living Tree
Central Baptist Church in Johnson City, Tennessee has its own tradition to celebrate Christmas.
An eight-tiered christmas tree filled with 55 choir members, an orchestra and a narrator makes up what they call... "The Living Tree."
Two-hundred and fifty people have been working since the beginning of September to complete the work of art.
In all, 18-hundred people will get the Christmas message. Pastor and narrator of "The Living Tree" says, "We want everyone to remember the purpose of Christmas is Christ," he adds, "it's so easy to get caught up in the materialism and shopping and eating and planning and traveling."
Choir member Annemarie Dugan tells says they also collect canned goods for Good Samaritan Ministries at the concert.
The members of the church say it's a good feeling to share a long-standing tradition with the community since 19-75.
The church builds "The Living Tree" every-other year for the community gathering.
So, if you missed it this year, Central Baptist Church will be back with another concert in 2014.
