Parents will be lining up this weekend to get all of the supplies that they need for their kids to start school.

It is the toughest time on the wallets of parents everywhere. "With summer and gas prices, we've got three kids going to school this year so the lists have frown so it's a little but crazier than what it usually is," says mother of four Nichole Hughes.

However, with the tax-free holiday, parent Tammie Gross says that it is a big help. "I'd rather shop during the tax free weekend to save every bit of money that I possibly can," she said.

News 5 went to Walmart to see exactly how much it would cost a parent to send one student to school.

We bought the essentials on the list -- things like pencils, crayons, and erasers, just to name a few. The list also called for other things like paper towels and tissues. Once we were done shopping, we went and rang up the items to see how much it would cost.

The total came out to $22.27. However, we found out that with the tax-free weekend it is only going to come out to $20.38, saving you a total of $1.89.

While that does not seem like a lot of money, Hughes says every little bit helps. "It does help to save if it is 20 bucks then it is 20 bucks, you know. It helps," she said.

The tax-free holiday starts Thursday at midnight.

Some of the things that are included are clothing, school supplies and computers under $1,500, saving you even more money.
